FYI: IRS Health Care Tax Tip, “The Health Care Law and Your Taxes: Last Minute Filing Tips”, makes three basic points for taxpayers who have not yet filed:
1. Just Check the Box (it’s easy and you may not really need more time to file),
2. Apply for an Extension (if you can’t get your return done in time you must apply for an automatic extension) and
3. Don’t Wait to File (an exemption doesn’t mean you should wait - file ASAP especially if you must reconcile advance payments of the premium tax credit received in 2015).
