FYI: IRS Pilot Program of Appointment Service Test for Certain Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs)

Hello Everyone,

IRS is conducting a pilot program of appointment service test for certain Taxpayer Assistance Centers this filing season beginning with ten large Taxpayer Assistance Centers.  (See below, “Appointment Service List FINAL” attachment for list of participating TACs  in the appointment service test pilot program).

Note:  Fresno is the only large TAC in California noted on this list.

IRS hopes the results of the test will help us determine if an appointment process would benefit both the IRS and the taxpayer. The ten large TAC locations noted on the list began taking appointments this week and will convert to appointment service on February 23.

IRS will be adding more TACs to the test later this filing season (dates TBD).
Note:  TACs noted on the above attached list to, “begin taking appointments later this filing season” that are located in California are: Long Beach and Redding.

To help raise awareness of the appointment service test with taxpayers, IRS made a national media release along with local releases at the ten initial participating locations. IRS had posted signage at the ten TACs and has updated IRS.gov with background information and the instructions needed by taxpayers to make an appointment.

The below attached fact sheet, “Internal Revenue Service Appointment Test” has additional information on this appointment service test pilot program.

Hi Everyone,

Patrick McGuire, Appeals Area Director, is interested in conducting a meeting with no more than 10 practitioners who have Appeals experience. In addition, since AJAC (APPEALS JUDICIAL APPROACH AND CULTURE) is relatively new, they’re also interested in getting feedback about this process.

Meeting details:

When:         Wednesday, March 18th

Where:        IRS Appeals

                    100 First Street, Suite 2100

                    21st Floor – Conference Rooms A, B and C

                    San Francisco

Time:          10:00 am - Noon

If you have prior experience with Appeals and are interested and available to participate in this face-to-face meeting, please provide your name and contact information to me ASAP.

Note the Director has requested a small number of participants for this special meeting, therefore selections will be made (by the Director) on a “first come, first served” basis.  As of today there are 2 slots left.

Thanks in advance for your consideration of this opportunity.
